Chlorine Shortage Has Public Pools Feeling The Pinch

Many pool owners, both public and private, are feeling washed out by the rising cost of pool maintenance from the chlorine shortage.  Some public pools may be forced to close because they can't get chorine or the chlorine that is available is too expensive to purchase and still stay in budget.  For many public pools, they find they are spending more on pool maintenance than they actually get from the guest fees.

The shortage is due to the pandemic when many added pools to their homes, but mostly by the fire that erupted during Hurricane Laura at a major chlorine manufacturing facility that produced a majority of the pool chlorine tablets.
